Rimaye Walkings is an itinerant workshop project that alternates moments of scientific disclosure and environmental awareness with moments of choreographic practice to allow participants to empathise with the landscape of glaciers through their bodies.

It can be organised in the vicinity of existing or extinct glaciers and in landscapes that once hosted them or have been shaped and transformed by their action (e.g. marked glacier trails). During the hikes, Azioni Fuori Posto proposes a series of practices of movement and observation of nature, inspired by the composition and action of the glaciers and rocks that have created the Alpine environment over time. In conjunction with the workshop, some site-specific performative moments inspired by the Rimaye performance can be shown to make the experience even more immersive.

The Walkings are designed to share the creative process of the performance with the community of walkers, mountaineers and nature lovers, and to raise awareness of environmental issues (such as melting glaciers, climate change, rising sea levels and ocean acidification). They offers an opportunity to experience a different approach to the landscape through movement practices aimed at changing the relationship between people and their environment, reversing the perspective in which the human being is at the centre.

Number of participants: maximum 30 people (conditions to be agreed with the organiser).

Duration: depends on the length of the route chosen; if there is a refuge/accommodation for the participants, it is possible to organise a two-day excursion.
